THE ARCHITECT
OF MODERN MAGICK
An infographic exploring the doctrines of Éliphas Lévi, the 19th-century figure who synthesized ancient traditions into the foundation of modern occultism.
THE THREE PILLARS
Lévi built his entire system on three foundational dogmas that redefined magic for the modern world.
1. REALITY IS A FRACTION
The material world is just a sliver of a vast, multi-layered reality. True knowledge requires accessing these other planes through the "Astral Light."
2. WILL IS OMNIPOTENT
Human willpower is a real, trainable force capable of impressing itself upon reality to achieve anything, from the mundane to the miraculous.
3. AS ABOVE, SO BELOW
The human (microcosm) is a perfect reflection of the universe (macrocosm). Actions within one's self directly affect the external world.
THE FOUR-FOLD PATH
To master magic, one must first master the self by developing the four powers of the Sphinx.
TO KNOW
Attain profound self-knowledge and understand the universal laws.
TO WILL
Develop a disciplined, focused, and unbreakable intention.
TO DARE
Act with courage, breaking free from fear and social convention.
TO KEEP SILENT
Protect the magical working by maintaining secrecy to conserve its power.
THE GRAND SYNTHESIS
Lévi's greatest act was fusing the Tarot's imagery with Kabbalah's structure. This chart compares his influential system for the 22 Major Arcana to the later, more common Golden Dawn system, highlighting his unique placement of key cards.
✨ The Astral Oracle
Engage directly with Lévi's "philosophical machine." Focus your will, quiet your mind, and draw a card to receive insight from the Astral Light.
SYMBOLS OF THE ABSOLUTE
Lévi created complex hieroglyphs to represent his entire system in a single image.
THE BAPHOMET
Not a demon, but a symbol of cosmic equilibrium, the union of opposites, and the mastery of spirit over matter. It's a visual test: the profane see a monster, the initiate sees the path to perfection.
THE PENTAGRAMS
Lévi was the first to assign a moral duality to the pentagram's orientation, a concept now ubiquitous in modern esotericism.

THE LEVIATHAN'S WAKE
Lévi's work was not an end but a beginning. He created the source code that would be compiled, refined, and radicalized by every major occult movement that followed.
